The Urgent Care Team within Elective and UEC Solutions are looking for a highly organised, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join the team. As the Regional Directory of Services (DoS) Lead you will be expected to work alongside senior staff and project managers and lead the existing team with the continued delivery of the DoS service and any associated projects within the UEC which are linked to the key Primary and Urgent Care priorities and commissioning standards.

Ideally you will have existing experience of the Directory of Services and the way in which this impacts services across the region, especially NHS 111 and 999. You will have excellent organisational skills and an ability to work on your own initiative paying strong attention to detail and have excellent communication skills both written and verbally.

Main duties of the job

The role will include, but not be limited to:

Line management of the existing team

Effective delivery of the Integrated Urgent and Emergency Care using the DoS

Work to ensure that the DoS accurately reflects the service provisions within the areas covered by NECS and any associated National Services

Provide a subject matter expert role to the ICBs and providers answering any queries on DoS

Work with internal and external colleagues to ensure that lessons learnt are shared and benefits clearly identified for future working

Work towards a culture of DoS inclusion in all elements of work and the future initiatives of the tool

Produce evidence reports and case studies illustrating the positive impact of the DoS on all service provisions within the areas manged by NECS

Take Project Management approach to role and wider projects within Commissioning Delivery

The office environment is fast paced and you will be expected to be able to manage your own workload and prioritise as necessary the demands of the role.

The role is full time (37.5 hours) based at John Snow House, Durham, however there will be some regional and national travel required to fulfil this role. This role will be moving to the ICB from April 2025.

  • Significant relevant NHS/public sector experience in management of the Directory of Services.
  • Experience of working across organisations and with other agencies
  • A strong and relevant track record that demonstrates success in project management.
  • Significant practical experience in facilitating change in service delivery through motivating others.
  • Proven record of finding innovative solutions to highly complex problems.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to manager and interpret hard and soft data.
  • Experience of implementing service reform and services innovation.

Desirable

  • Experience in telephone triage and use of the DoS in an operational environment.
  • Experience of training delivery.

Knowledge

  • Able to switch from one task to another without losing focus, holding a clear overview while paying attention to key aspects of detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with the ability to present highly complex and sensitive information.
