Job summary

We have an opportunity to join our Incident Management Team here in Cervical Screening Administration Service (CSAS), based in Leeds or Preston. We are looking to appoint a Incident Officers as part of our team. The Incident Team is a stakeholder facing team and interacts with people internally and externally on all levels. The team play a vital role in the managing of incidents and also, the protection of the service by supporting with the prevention of incidents.

The role of Incident officer is pivotal to the CSAS team and carries out a hugely important function in the Cervical Screening pathway. Attention to detail and the ability to confidently communicate are essential for this role.

Please note this role is restricted to internal NECS employees only.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities

  • To report all incidents in a timely manner using the appropriate systems and mechanisms in place
  • To co-ordinate investigations and ensure high quality administrative reporting is produced
  • The Incident Officer will ensure allocated cases are processed in line with the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • The Incident Officer will be representing NECS in delivering reports and updates on CSAS Incidents nationally and will also support the wider aspects of the cervical screening programme e.g. cease and delays; incidents; comms; cytology laboratory results etc
  • The post will involve close working with other colleagues within NECS, NHSE and PHE to support the delivery of a successful service
  • To provide recommendations based on lessons learnt from Incidents to make improvements to the CSAS Operation.

This role assists in the efficient and effective running of the Cervical Screening Administration Services (CSAS) through the investigation of incidents including root cause analysis and identification of corrective and preventative actions and writing of reports. This role supports the National Cervical Screening Programme and is vital in supporting womens health and saving lives ensuring that the handling of incidents and serious incidents is of paramount interest in every aspect of the cervical screening processes. This role is pivotal to screening and sits across Operations and Strategy.

  • Significant experience of using Microsoft office systems including Word, Excel
  • Extensive experience of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • system, NHAIS, Open Exeter or other IT systems as a key part of a day-to-day
  • role
  • Experience of writing incident reports.
  • Significant experience of customer case handling and administrative processing
  • experience in screening related or other key services where customers and
  • achievement of defined SLAs are important
  • Experience in analysing and interpretation of complex data
  • Experience in using and relational databases and analytical tools
  • Experience working as part of a team ideally in an information setting
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external customer focus) including
  • an excellent standard of written and spoken English

  • Knowledge of information reporting tools
