Two exciting opportunities have arisen for band 5 Senior Finance Officers to join North Of England Commissioning Support (NECS) Finance team.

Interviews are scheduled to take place Thursday 31st October.

Main duties of the job

The roles will be responsible for the delivery of timely, consistent and accurate finance information to a number of stakeholders to enable them to meet their financial duties.

The ideal candidates will be actively studying, have a background in finance and a detailed understanding of accounting procedures.

The successful candidates will be team players, good communicators and pro-active with the ability to establish priorities and work independently.

Key responsibility for supporting senior colleagues in providing a comprehensive service to the directorate, and internal stakeholders and external clients.

ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational

Support the effective delivery of services to customers, as defined by agreed service specifications.

Ensure all financial information provided is timely, accurate and relevant, and is produced in accordance with the relevant reporting timetable.

Complete all statutory, internal and external reporting for all areas of responsibility, including preparation of relevant working papers.

Contribute to the management and maintenance of effective budgetary control systems.

Manage the reconciliation of financial information, taking action where necessary to resolve any reconciling items.

Support the completion of forecasts, where relevant.

Provide advice and support to more senior colleagues.

Contact internal stakeholders and external clients to resolve queries.

Provide leadership to junior colleagues within their designated team.

Maintain robust control records and establishment records.

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of computer software packages Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience and expertise of large integrated financial systems, processes and controls and dealing with large volumes of data in analysis.
  • Accounting and finance experience and a good knowledge of accounting legislation and financial procedures.
  • Experience of working autonomously with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Resolving complex queries and issues with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience of staff management.

Desirable

  • Experience of dealing with external agencies and audit
  • Knowledge of NHS finance and NHS issues

Qualifications

Essential

  • AAT Level 4 / Part Qualified Accountant or equivalent to degree level or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs grade A-C or 5 to 9 including Maths and English or equivalent.
