Job summary

Are you a customer-focused, talented and experienced Principal Data Engineer. Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in an influential role?

The Principal Data Engineer is a key role in ensuring that these organisations can fulfil their purpose in planning and delivering the best services for patients. Working within a team of data experts, the Principal Data Engineer will lead the provisioning of data platforms and tooling underpinning numerous corporate and customer facing services.

Main duties of the job

This role will be responsible for:

Building and maintaining data pipelines and ensure our products are robust, performant, safe and cost effective.

Ensuring data processes are automated through a range of technologies including Robotics Process Automation.

Producing and presenting initial solution 'end to end' prototypes as working models for user evaluation and in preparation for full scale development and deployment.

Maintaining an effective data architecture and operational service model that is scalable and agile enough to meet varying use cases.

Managing the deployment of solutions into a fully managed and maintained operational environment following appropriate release and change control.

Providing support to client/customer data solutions acting as a lead specialist consultant working to NECS processes and procedures.

  • Professional qualification at Masters degree level in an information related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Desirable

  • Microsoft Certified Specialist.
  • Qualification in team leadership.
  • Post graduate qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in manipulation of complex data, data processes, products and platforms.
  • Extensive experience in automating data processing routines through specialist software, scripting and bespoke development tools.
  • Experience of operating within a formal and structured data environment utilising formal change control arrangements.
  • Experience in analysing and documenting processes and requirements to inform the design of solutions.
  • Experience in integrating solutions using data pipelines.
  • Experience in using Cloud based services.
  • Experience in quality and safety management standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating data quality and testing tools.

  • Experience in manipulation of health and care data.
