SENIOR ORTHOPAEDIC ARTHROPLASTY FELLOW - Knee & Hip Surgery - (StRH Level)

The Orthopaedic and Trauma Department is based in the two Major Teaching Hospitals in the City of Cardiff, the Capital of Wales.
The post is attached to 2 high volume arthroplasty surgeons primarily at University Hospital Llandough, which is the major elective unit for the region, serving a local population of 500,000 and providing a tertiary referral service for a population of 1.5 million. The successful candidate will gain experience in primary and revision hip replacement, partial, total and revision knee replacement as well as knee arthroscopic surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in ongoing research projects together with specific research.
Candidates should have ideally completed a basic Orthopaedic Registrar training programme and passed the appropriate exit examination. The post is ideal for candidates seeking additional operative exposure prior to application for consultant posts or CESR application.
References will be required to cover a minimum of three years of previous employment and/or training

Main duties of the job
The Post Holder will be expected to work at specialist Registrar level and will participate in the specialist Registrar on call rota at Llandough Hospital.
The post is not educationally approved and will therefore not attract a National Training Number.
