NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) are seeking applications from passionate and experienced Primary Care managers to support the development of General Practice and PCNs across the ICB.
The two roles would be working for the Head(s) of Primary Care across Coventry and South Warwickshire and is an exciting opportunity to join our Primary Care Team on a permanent basis.
About us NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB is responsible for commissioning health and care services on behalf of over one million people in Coventry and Warwickshire. As a system, Coventry and Warwickshire have 120 practices and 19 PCNs across four geographical places.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the development of primary care, working with practices to facilitate the delivery of a resilient high-quality offer to our local population. This will include ensuring that service planning, commissioning and delivery meets local and national commissioning objectives, contractual requirements and targets. The post holder will also be required to support implementation of the Primary Care Strategy, national and local priorities including by not limited to Improving Access, Population Health Management, support and development of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) across the ICB footprint to support the development of integrated Primary Care within the local system.
Key to this role will be relationships with key stakeholders within Coventry and Warwickshire, including the LMC, Federations and place-based forums as well as strong relationships with the regional team of NHSE.
The post holder will need to work closely with the quality and business intelligent teams to support, facilitate and develop the standard of primary care across the area. This will include the delivery of national and local expected outcomes, whilst playing a key role in shaping and implementing new models of service delivery to achieve the ICB objectives.

Job responsibilities
- To support and advise the Primary Care Team, wider ICB / ICS colleagues as appropriate, GP Practices, senior managers, and partner organisations on a wide range of areas aligned with or that impact on Primary Care including but not limited to; new ways of working in general practice, PCN development, improving patient outcomes. This will involve understanding and interpreting data, which, by its very nature, this information will be highly complex.
- To work closely with the Clinical Leads to ensure systems of communication are functional and effective and enable good communication between the ICB, PCN Clinical Directors and Co-ordinators by supporting the development of effective engagement and communication channels. This will require communication on a range of complex and multi-faceted information that will require negotiation and influence in order to achieve engagement at an individual level but also at large meetings, for example, PCN Meetings and Practice Managers Meetings.
- To attend the PCN meetings and other practice / PCN engagement meetings as required, such as Practice Managers, to ensure that key issues are communicated in a timely manner.
- Internally, to liaise and work closely with the Head(s) of Primary Care, Director of Primary Care, Assurance Team and identified Clinical Leads, and the wider ICB and take responsibility for ensuring tasks devolved are actioned. Externally, to work closely with Public Health, Local Authority, Social Care and other voluntary groups to ensure a partnership working ethos is developed and maintained
- To develop good working relationships with GP Practices, PCNs, local Federations and NHSE colleagues to establish robust mechanisms to support the sustainability and resilience in GP Primary Care as part of the delivery of the Primary Care Strategy and other local priorities alongside national policy such as new ways of working in Primary Care, Improving Access and others that may emerge or evolve over time.
- To contribute proactively to meetings appropriate to the role which may in some cases include the agenda and running of the meeting. Support the Primary Care Group as necessary including preparation of appropriate reports.
- To lead on the development and co-ordination of specific GP Primary Care services in addition to/complementary to the standard GMS contract which align with the ICB Primary Care Strategy, National Policy and local priorities including Population Health Management approach support of Primary Care Networks working with Key Stakeholders and internal ICB colleagues.
- To provide support and contribute, as appropriate, to the development of any new contracts for services in primary care including pathway development ensuring equality impact assessments are completed, where required/ as appropriate. At all times, maintain a focus on service improvement, performance and productivity.
