Staff Nurse

Department :Ophthalmology

Band 5 £28,407 - £34,581 per annum pro rata

Hours: 21.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Ophthalmology and the friendly, hardworking nursing team. If you are: enthusiastic, caring, motivated, dynamic, a team player and can deliver a high standard of patient care we would like to hear from you.

Ophthalmology will offer you a change from working on the wards, much of our work is clinic based. You will be working on Consultant/Doctor based clinics as well as nurse led clinics where you will work with patients of all ages.

We believe we have much to offer, during a supernumerary period you will learn how to perform the necessary ophthalmic skills required for this post. We like our nurses to work to reach their potential so we encourage education, especially if it will enhance the patient's experience.

Another attraction to this post is that work Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:30 - 20:30, no bank holidays and no nights.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of patient care in a professional, caring manner.

You will be working on clinics and in procedure rooms providing support to the clinicians and nurses. You will also be expected to organise your co workers to make sure that the patients journey through the clinics is a positive one.

In the absence of senior members of the nursing team you will be expected to deputise, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately, and escalating any issues that may affect patient safety and patient care.
