Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Urological Surgeon with an interest in Female and Core urology. The initial post is expected to be made up of a combination of female/incontinence surgery and core urology to help the team tackle the current pressures on the service. This balance is likely to change as the post and the service develops. This is a substantive post starting initially with 10 PA, within the Department of Urology at The Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT).
The department is looking for a consultant with the right attributes to join one of the largest Urology teams in the country. Due to the recent changes in urology provision across Manchester a vacancy has been created to help provide urology services to patients served by Manchester Foundation Trust. This post is available with immediate effect.
Within MFT, urology services are currently spread across two inpatient sites - Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital. Urological activity is also undertaken at North Manchester General, Withington, Trafford General and Altrincham Hospitals.

The appointment is to a total 10 PA job plan with 8.0PA's for Direct Clinical Care (DCC), and 2.0 PA for Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) as per the below table.
The job plan will include the following Supporting Professional Activity (SPA's)
- 1 compulsory core SPA (flexible)
- 0.5 for teaching and attendance of consultant and directorate meetings
- 0.5 for new consultant programme
