Job summary

The Manchester Royal Infirmary has a large Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease (AdCKD) service, with a substantial increase in patient numbers during the pandemic. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transplant Pathway Co-ordinator to join the Renal Medicine team and support the Transplant Work-up service. This post provides an opportunity to work with an enthusiastic team of clinicians, specialist nurses, and administrators. This is a key post within the Renal Medicine service and outcomes will directly aid the multi-disciplinary team to enlist patients for kidney transplantation in a timely and efficient manner. We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is well organised and motivated to implement changes.

You must enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to prioritise your own workload. You will need good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, be IT literate, and able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.

Previous knowledge of working in a relevant hospital based role and/or in a clerical role is essential. A background of administrative experience in Renal Medicine is preferable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide administrative support to the transplant work-up and Cystinosis services within the department of Renal Medicine. This will require an understanding of all associated administrative tasks. The post holder will work closely with clinical, nursing and administrative staff within the service and will be responsible for the co-ordination of the kidney transplant work-up patient pathway, waiting list management, facilitating and attending the weekly transplant work-up MDT meetings, maintaining and record of the patient's journey in the pathway, communicating with patients as required, and will furthermore provide general administrative support to the transplant work-up team as delegated by the administration manager.
