You will link into a progressive, and enthusiastic multi-professional team based at James Cook which provides comprehensive ENT services to the population of Teesside, South Durham and North Yorkshire.
The ENT department is centrally based within a modern purpose built facility in the James Cook University Hospital, with a peripheral service network across the area. Recently rated as one of the best in the country for patient safety the Trust is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in England. Working in the North East offers an excellent quality of life. This area boasts great transport links with easy access to a beautiful coastline/countryside and a great range of local amenities, shopping and nightlife.
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice is essential.
Main duties of the job
The James Cook University Hospital is a major centre for Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery in both adults and children. It is the base for the North East Cochlear Implant Programme, a head and neck cancer centre and delivers a comprehensive range of otolaryngology services. South Tees Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an innovative Trust with a broad portfolio of complimentary services including neurosurgery, maxillo-facial and plastic surgery and oncology. The Undergraduate Department sits within the STRIVE Academic Centre and has departments along with Postgraduate Medical Education, Research and Development, Courses and Conferences. There are excellent 24-hour library and IT facilities. STRIVE has well established links with the Universities of Newcastle, Teesside and Sunderland as well as Hull York Medical School. As part of the post you will be funded and timetabled to undertake the Certificate in Medical Education.
About us
The Undergraduate Department has access to modern well equipped seminar rooms, lecture theatres, mock ward areas and a clinical skills laboratory to offer face-to-face and virtual teaching. The department has state of the art immersive simulation facilities, including high-fidelity simulation mannequins and fixed as well as mobile video facilities to deliver simulation-based training in collaboration with the postgraduate department and clinical specialties. The department has a well-developed team of senior teachers, clinical lecturers, GPs and administrative staff who guide and support a team of teaching fellows and foundation programme trainees in medical education. All teaching fellows have access to the teaching faculty office with provision of IT equipment to assist with the preparation of teaching sessions, personal professional development and teaching qualifications.
