The CAMHS Intensive Community Support team enhances the risk support offer to young people, via the provision of an outreach and intensive intervention team to support the CYP with the most complex needs. The service operates at the interface of the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team and inpatient admission.

These young people are likely to have emotional regulation difficulties/ extensive trauma histories/ ASD/ Intellectual Disability and present with high-risk behaviours. The team is committed to offering intensive, psychologically informed support to ensure the best possible care in the community. This allows excellent Leadership and opportunities for creativity, innovation with direct support from Professional and Operational service leads to embed the OT provision and evaluate the added impact of OT for young people experiencing significant Mental Health challenges and their families.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit Occupational Therapists within our ICST service to compliment the therapeutic offer and MDT working with young people with complex needs (ASD/Intellectual Disability/ extensive trauma histories) , emotional dysregulation and associated high risk behaviour, for whom an inpatient admission may potentially cause longer term detriment by inadvertently increasing the risk profile.

This will involve establishing the OT role, OT provision and pathways as part of the MDT enhanced package of care.

Undertaking holistic assessments, short and long-term outreach and intensive interventions and working with young people and their families and network including social care and education, in the community and CAMHS settings.

Working with the MDT to collaboratively develop a care plan with young people which best supports their identified needs via an enhanced model of care.

Working within the wider CAMHS system to ensure an integrated pathway of care for young people and their families.

What we can offer you.

A supportive Multi-disciplinary Team, formal and informal meetings for case discussion, reflective practice and service development.

Regular Professional, Clinical and operational supervision.

Strong leadership and direction; monthly professional business meetings, regular opportunities for networking with other Occupational Therapists within CAMHS and wider LPT.
