Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Band 7 Pleural Specialist Nurses to join our team. You will be core members of the Joint Thoracic Service (JTS). The JTS is a formalisation and enhancement of the existing relationship between The Royal Marsden (RM) and The Royal Brompton Hospitals for patients with suspected or confirmed thoracic cancer as well as those with lung complications of cancer treatment or thoracic metastases.
We have strong links with The Royal Marsden Hospital School of Cancer and Nursing to support with education and personal development and there will be opportunities to take part in various Trust committees as part of your ongoing professional development.
The role is 22.5 hours per week, and you will be expected to work between the RM sites; Chelsea and Sutton and The Royal Brompton in Chelsea.

Main duties of the job
The Pleural Specialist Nurse role was recently introduced to improve the experience and pathway for patients with malignant pleural disease managed within the JTS. Areas of work will include, triaging new referrals to the service, liaising with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, to act as a central point of contact for patients with complications related to the management of their pleural effusion and supporting other healthcare professionals with education and training. The successful post holder will also work closely with our Acute Oncology Service Team.
