Job summary

Want to make a difference to the lives of young people at a vulnerable stage of their illness? Then come join our new adolescent PICU team: a purpose built psychiatric intensive care unit for young people.

Meadow Unit, the brand new CAMHS PICU (our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit for Children and Adolescents) at the Warneford Hospital Site is opening in 2023 and we are looking to recruit a Charge Nurse.

This role will receive a payment equivalent to 10% of your annual basic salary, (pro-rata) which will be paid in 6 payments.

We can offer favourable relocation packages to suitable candidates wishing to relocate to Oxfordshire for this role.

Please note that this role attracts an additional allowance of£1475per annum/pro-rata on top of the salary offered.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Band 6 Charge Nurse to join the team. You will need to have an interest in Positive Behaviour Support as this will be the model implemented on the ward. Training on Positive Behaviour Support will be provided for all staff.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who is energetic and enthusiastic about working collaboratively with young people and their families, offering containment and support to the wider nursing team. This individual should be committed to utilising acute nursing skills at the highest level to ensure the least restrictive care possible is being delivered.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside the ward manager and be involved in the recruitment and development of the nursing team who will be working on the PICU and the wider development of the CAMHS PICU service.

  • Registration in Nursing all field or Associated Social care qualification.
  • Intermediate PBS training (National Qualifications Level 5 or above) OR willingness to undertake.

Desirable

  • MSc relevant to working with people with learning disabilities.
  • Qualification in Applied Behaviour Analysis

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience of working in services for people with learning disabilities using PBS

Desirable

  • Experience of a leadership role within PBS.

Management

  • Able to organise/prioritise time effectively.
