An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the administration team in Single Point of Access. Single Point of Access is operates 365 days a year from 8am until 10pm.
To provide a high-quality service within the Single Point Access (SPA) to deliver an excellent, quality service for patients, referrers and clinicians using the service.
Single point of access is available for patients, clinicians and other health and social care professionals. SPA support patients and their carers through the choice options available to them for a wide range of services including booking first appointments where possible and forwarding referrals on to other services by both written and verbal communications to Primary and Secondary Care Providers. This also includes ward and IC bed referrals/resumptions.
To achieve and maintain high standards and effective working relationships with all service providers and organisations.

Main duties of the job
To be efficient, informative and helpful to patients and all callers to the SPA service.
To act as a single point of contact for Sheffield Teaching Hospital staff, Social work staff, GP practices and Secondary Care Providers, dealing with enquiries in a sensitive, confidential, effective and timely manner.
To work within an environment that receives and makes a high volume of inbound and outbound calls on behalf of the services currently managed via the SPA. These services include - Therapy Services, Continence, District Nurses, Phlebotomy, Long Term Conditions, CVD, CHD, AR and COPD, Discharges.
Ensuring all relevant clinical information is available for the clinician in order to maximise the appointment time for the patient.
Work within a high-volume call arena which requires the skills to prioritise and empathise with the patient/callers sometimes discussing sensitive issues, where necessary taking messages and carrying out any follow-up action required.
Undertake general administration duties including post, registration of all referrals, data collection, accurate and timely data entry, word processing and inputting onto the SystmOne, being able to prioritise and organise own workload.
Provide an effective and efficient telephone/e-mail service within the SPA.
To support the triage clinicians within the SPA ensuring patient demographics are completed on all patient referrals in a legible and concise manner.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.
