Job summary
The Tissue viability service at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) is providing excellent care, treatment and education to all staff and patients within Addenbrooke's Hospital. You will work as part of a busy, dedicated team within patient safety and reducing patient harm across the whole trust. You will be asked to lead on quality improvement projects and utilise your teaching skills through outreach visits, education programmes and training. You will lead service improvement projects and be able to consider data, write reports and act upon this.
Freedom to act and with competence is essential to being successful and safe in the role. It will be necessary to manage complex transfers using professional judgement, safe decision making and discretion to ensure the best outcomes for the patient, family and colleagues. There will also be times where it is necessary to flex to act in a nursing role or as a single clinician on transfer. You must be flexible with your approach and time
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis implementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist skills
- Provide clinical expertise and leadership, in relation to tissue viability, at both strategic and operational level to promote patient-centred quality care.
- Develop, co-ordinate and evaluate the Trust-wide Tissue Viability Strategy and policies
- Advise and support all other health professionals to develop and change their own practice and so raise the quality and standards of care in relation to tissue viability.
- Initiate, participate and promote activities, which contribute to the process of audit and research in relation to tissue viability.
- Oversee and advise on the use of specialist therapy products and monitor the usage of pressure relieving support surfaces.
- Develop and co-ordinate Trust-wide staff training/education programme, which covers all aspects of tissue viability.
