Job summary

The Blood Conservation Practitioner will assist in the design and implementation of a comprehensive, highly specialised multi-professional blood conservation service in a wide range of clinical areas. As well as providing technical and educational support to intraoperative cell salvage, the post holder will participate in observation and feedback to registered practitioners and multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Blood Conservation Practitioner will be expected to demonstrate clinical expertise and provide specialist knowledge which is transferable between acute clinical areas. Effective communication with all members of the multi-professional team and external agencies is a key part of this role.

In addition, the Blood Conservation Practitioner will be responsible for ensuring effective use of Trust resources and the safe handling of trust equipment.

The Blood Conservation Practitioner will provide cover at The Royal Cornwall Hospital Site and St Michael's Hospital site as and when required. There may be occasional activities scheduled off-site and out of hours.

The Blood Conservation Practitioner will support the clinical practice, professional and educational development of medical staff, registered nurses and AHPs.
