Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated experienced registered Nurse or registered Therapist who is competent and confident in a wide range of clinical skills to support a progressive Lymphoedema Service. The post will incorporate on going learning and training. On occasions it will be necessary to attend courses out of county; therefore a willingness to travel will be required. You will support the Lymphoedema Specialist Nurse Lead to deliver prompt effective personalised treatment plans to individuals identified to have Cancer Related Lymphoedema.
The applicant will work alongside our existing Lymphoedema team at University Hospital Dorset. Ideally the applicant should have knowledge and skills in the field of lymphoedema. However, this is also an excellent training opportunity for someone who demonstrates a real desire to follow a new pathway in a new speciality.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will give high quality care and psychological support to patients and their families with secondary lymphoedema who have undergone treatment for cancer at the Dorset Cancer Centre.
Carry out a wide range of delegated lymphoedema treatments. All training will be provided within the lymphoedema clinic and further afield.
Encourage and empower patients/carers to adopt an active approach in their self-management and treatments of lymphoedema.
Promote high standards of evidence based care following policies and protocols and acting as point of contact for patients and carers.
Requirements
- Previous experience in lymphoedema care, oncology or palliative care, but those who have a Community or Tissue viability background will also be considered
- Will possess an NMC registration and BSc degree in nursing or relevant professional body qualification and have a willingness to work towards training within the Lymphoedema speciality.
- Physical ability to perform physical aspects of treatment including measuring of limbs and applying compression hosiery.
- Ability to work independently within your own skill set and limitations, demonstrating the ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and record keeping
- IT skills essential
