Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Marie Curie Hospice in Newcastle. We are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor to join our established multi-professional specialist unit. This post would suit anyone considering specialty training in palliative medicine or related disciplines, e.g., oncology, or geriatrics, anyone looking for a portfolio career in general practice, or someone looking for long-term work in the unique team and built environment of a modern hospice.
Main duties of the job
You will primarily provide medical support, assessment and care for hospice inpatients in our inpatient unit in collaboration with the wider team.
This role involves participation in teaching and management activities at the hospice. You will be supported and encouraged to conduct audit/quality improvement and participate in activities relating to maintaining clinical excellence within the service.
Previous experience in palliative medicine is desirable but not essential, and there will be education and supervision for the successful applicants.
The role involves first on-call cover for the hospice and the regional advice line. On-call is a non-resident but includes returning to the hospice site out of hours when there is a clinical need.
