Job summary

We are looking to recruit an additional dispensing team member on a fixed term contract for a period of 12-15 months.

The successful candidate must have relevant and current experience and qualifications for dispensing.

You will be joining a team of four other dispensers in a large purpose built dispensary. The environment is fast-paced and patient focused.

The Dispensary opening hours are 08:30-18:00 Monday to Friday. The successful candidate would be expected to work between these hours covering both early and late shifts.

Main duties of the job

Checking and dispensing medication as per prescription.

Not to dispense medicines to unauthorised persons, without the Doctors consent.

Dispense repeat medication requests.

Answering telephone calls and passing on messages as appropriate.

Dealing with problems and enquiries.

Inputting information onto computer.

To keep Dispensary stocked and maintain efficient stock control of both medicines and containers.

Keep efficient stock rotation.

Fully observe legal requirements relevant to a dispensing Practice, including HA regulations and controlled drugs.

Ensure computer and all Dispensary equipment is maintained in good working order at all times.

Ensure the cleanliness of the Dispensary.

Ensure the safety of all who enter the Dispensary.

To carry out any duties appropriate to grade/level as required.

To work flexibly within the team and to provide cover as necessary.

To work closely with and help with the training of new/junior members of staff.

To ensure maximum profit is maintained and losses are kept to a minimum.

To deal with problems encountered with wholesalers/suppliers.

Co-ordinate the Dispensary delivery service.

Ensure that all drug safety alerts and notices are acted upon.

Help out on counter, ensuring patient signs prescription and collect charge as required using cash/card machine.

About us

Jenner Healthcare employs over 70 members of staff across 3 locations, Eye, Thorney and Whittlesey.

Whittlesey Practiceis located on Turners Lane (PE7 1EJ). The town sits on the western edge of the Fens and is approximately 7 miles east of Peterborough on the A605. It is a short distance from the other Jenner Healthcare sites.

Our Whittlesey location currently dispenses to over 1,300 patients who live more than 1 mile away from a Pharmacy.

Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holders role.

Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually).

Reporting potential risks identified.
