The practice is looking for
a full-time/job share receptionist to join our friendly well established, hard working, busy primary care
health team. To provide a service to patients - To help , assist and direct
patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional. To
act as the focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other
practice staff. Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a
positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or
via the telephone. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in
the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of clerical support
to clinical staff and other members of the practice team
Main duties of the job
Principal duties and Responsibilities:-
Process new and follow-up appointment requests from
patients by telephone and in person.
Receive patients and direct to appropriate surgeries.
Record requests for home visits Registration of new patients and temporary
residents, following practice policy. Process patients change of address.
Handling, receipt and efficient filing of prescriptions. Have a full understanding
of the appointment system.
Attributes and Skills
Good communication skills, Conscientious in
approach to work, Working on own initiative, Familiar with the IT systems used
EMIS is desirable, Team working, Able to work under pressure, previous experience
working with the general public.
About us
Lawton House surgery is a GP Practice displaying a good working ethic located in
Congleton Cheshire, with a population size of 11962. It comprises of 5 GP
Partners and 3 Salaried GPs. There are 4 Practice Nurses plus 1 Health Care
Assistant. There is a Practice Manager plus a Deputy Practice Manager. The
Administration Team comprise of the following:- 2 Medical Secretaries,
Reception Manager, Reception/Admistration staff plus a Cleaning team.

efficient running of the surgery; assisting the General Practitioners and
Practice Manager in providing a service to patients.
To receive, assist and direct
patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a
courteous, efficient and effecting way.

- Open
premises, checking heating and clinical and administration rooms and
restore day time telephone and computer services.
- Process
new and follow-up appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
- Receive
patients and direct to appropriate surgeries.
- Record
requests for home visits and contact the duty doctor with late home visit requests.
- Registration
of new patients and temporary residents, following practice policy.
- Process
patients change of address.
- Process
repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines.

receipt and efficient filing of prescriptions
- Receipt,
administration and packaging of pathological specimens with due regard for safe and correct handling
of them.

and locking of the surgery and general security, including setting the
burglar alarm.
- Maintain
a safe and tidy reception area and provide or organise hands on emergency
maintenance and cleaning as required, this could include the clearing up
of bodily fluids, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is
provided.

information regarding unsolved or urgent problems with GPs or other staff
