Ensuring the right capacity to meet demand

At NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) we know all about having the right resources in the right place at the right time, and that extends to management of our communications and technology. It’s all part of our goal to be the best donation service in the world for blood, organs, tissues and stem cells.

This hugely varied role will build your understanding of how ICT resources are delivered within complex change programmes and on a day-to-day basis. You will work closely with the Senior Management of ICT, alongside Business Transformation and other directorates, to deal with everything from tactical demand, to forward-looking capacity planning in ICT. You will manage a resourcing system, ensuring that it is used correctly and produces useful management information. This critical work will build the foundations for future capacity augmentation and change.

Experience of demand and capacity planning processes is essential. You’ll ideally have a background within a complex and highly regulated organisation, and a good grasp of industry-standard project management methodologies such as Prince 2. Well-organised, with plenty of initiative, you’ll have excellent team-working and communication skills, including the ability to be effective in dealing with complex and sometimes conflicting situations. Being able to guide and influence others at all levels is also critical to the role.

This successful candidate may be based at one of our national centres (Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, London), final location to be agreed at interview.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
