University Hospitals Leicester is one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – and increasingly specialist services over a much wider area.

Clinical Engineering a sub section of Medical Physics with responsibility for all aspects of medical equipment management, including design, development, support and management.

To assist in the development and quality improvement of the services we provide, and also improve patient safety, and opportunities for income we are now seeking a Clinical Scientist with experience and knowledge of all aspects of the medical device lifecycle, design development of medical devices and associated governance, and development and maintenance of quality management systems. Applicants should be HCPC registered, or are applicable for registration through equivalence, and have a good work ethic and ability to lead investigations relating to medical device incidents and solve technical problems of varying nature.

We are also looking for someone to lead on a project to ensure UHL comply with the requirements of the new medical devices regulations, so some knowledge of the regulations is essential for this role.

Candidates should ideally have experience in CAD modelling, 3D printing and development and maintenance of databases, although all of these are not essential.
