An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Chief Nurse and Director of Quality and People at First Community Health and Care. This post should appeal to an executive nursing professional or aspirational executive nurse who is motivated and inspired by leading others through continuous quality improvement, organisational development and system wide working.

The Board is seeking an exceptional Chief Nurse and Director of Quality and People who can provide strategic and clinical leadership at Board level with prior experience from the NHS or healthcare sector. They should be an effective and credible system leader with a commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships having a proven track record of leading on wide scale quality improvement and integration work with the professional confidence to ensure that there is a strong clinical voice at the Board and wider system.

You will be joining First Community as it moves into a new and exciting phase in its history, transitioning from one ICS to another (Surrey Heartlands), creating new networks and relationships in order to design and deliver contemporary and integrated services for the future.

In order to support and enable this change, the post holder will have strong influencing skills and be a highly visible, compassionate and inclusive leader. Keeping the patient at the centre of everything we do is essential for this post, whilst role-modelling our organisational behaviours both within and outside of the organisation.

You will be joining a friendly, professional and clinically-led social enterprise with an outstanding reputation with regulators and system partners. The post combines a crucial requirement for strategic insight and capability, professional leadership, operational and clinical management performance and assurance and accountability and responsibility for a broad portfolio.

The post holder will be accountable for patient experience, quality and governance; HR and learning and development; medicines management; infection prevention and control, as well as holding key roles including Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Caldicott Guardian and CQC Nominated Individual.

Previous experience of working at a senior level and effective implementation of quality improvement and assurance strategies and initiatives, systems and processes is essential. Recruitment and Retention Premium

Recruitment and Retention Premium applies to the following posts:

Successful applicants within the staff groups above will receive -

  • £1000 upon commencement (payable in your first months’ salary) then;

  • £1000 after 6 months service subject to satisfactory completion of your probationary period.
