  • Emergency and Specialist Medicine
  • Renal, Respiratory and Cardiovascular
  • Women’s and Children
  • Cancer Services and Haematology

 

Our band 7 pharmacists are a key part of our Pharmacy and Clinical teams integral to delivering high quality, patient focussed medicines optimisation across the Trust.

In your role you will utilise your clinical knowledge and experience by providing daily clinical pharmacy services to specified wards, assisting with the training and development of others and supporting the improvement of the pharmacy service.

Relevant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy, the demonstration of good communication skills and sound current clinical knowledge will be essential to being effective in these roles. You will have completed or be nearing completion of a post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma.

Each post holder will be supported by the multidisciplinary team as we expand the current range of services and they will help maintain the high standard of services that are already provided. There is an ever growing number of Independent Prescribers in the teams and a strong desire to increase these numbers further so that responsibility for prescribing becomes integral to a pharmacist’s roles.

We have well established links with our multidisciplinary teams and work together to achieve optimal care for our patients. Our service is provided by a team of Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists and supported by satellite pharmacies. Our extended hours service is supported by a large team of junior pharmacists based on our wards and dispensaries, including some 7 day ward based services.

Post holders will be expected to contribute to departmental evening, out of hours, weekend and bank holiday duties as per current rotas.

UHL Pharmacy is an innovative service, with recent service developments including the introduction of electronic prescribing across areas of the Trust, implementation of fully electronic chemotherapy prescribing, an innovative electronic handover tool and automated ward based drug management systems across a number of areas.

It is an exciting time to join our Trust as work is underway to reconfigure our services to optimise patient care. We recently opened a new £50m ED and Acute Medicine providing one of the largest departments in the country. Womens and Childrens facilities will be undergoing complete refurbishment in the next few years, starting with the move of nationally recognised East Midlands Congential Heart Centre to the Leicester Royal Infirmary, mid 2019, bringing all Childrens care in the Southern East Midlands to a single site.

The advent of the South East Midlands Oncology Centre is expanding our Oncology and Haematology service and we are exploring options to offer treatment on other hospital sites and through outreach.

Successful candidates will work within one or more of our specialist services. Some of these posts may be rotational within our clinical services team to provide training and development opportunities in a variety of specialist areas. Please indicate in your application if one or more particular area interests you and why. Consideration will be given to part time and full time applicants.
