Our ‘HR Systems and Payroll – Operations and Projects’ team delivers a range of technology and transactional services both in-house and jointly with third party providers in a very responsive customer focused way.

Our success has brought us national recognition through being ‘Highly Commended’ in the Pay and Benefits Awards, winning the eHealth Insider Awards for Service Delivery and being a finalist in the eGovernment Awards with our payroll partner.

We’re a department that continues to evolve using technology and creativity to ensure our services and supporting technology is effective and user friendly for our 18,500 customers.

This exciting Assistant Manager role has arisen due to increases within our service and planned further developments. The successful person will be responsible for the day to day management of our operational transactional services, supporting services and externally partnered payroll contract provision making over 21,000 payments a month.

You will use Electronic Staff Record (‘ESR’) which is based on Oracle HRMS technology on a daily basis. With the NHS being one of the largest deployments in the world you will have and hone further experience through this role.

The successful applicant will have at least basic management experience in a customer focussed high volume transactional environment. Experienced “hands-on” service management, enthusiastic with a very high level of attention to detail, coupled with the ability to identify with individual’s needs, work with them in an open and supportive manner whilst ensuring the challenging internal and external service levels are met.

We will support your development of management and technical skills with formal and informal training / coaching to help you hone your skills and excel in this role.

No day will be the same, one minute you may be supporting a team member with an issue, the next trying to find the cause of a complex technical problem and then meeting with a service partner on the delivery of the service.

If this sounds like your sort of role, you have staff management experience with a track record of delivery in a challenging complex and pressurised customer focused HR / Payroll environments coupled with excellent technical and analytical skills in HR / Payroll systems you could be just the person we’re looking for!
