Define the future of our ICT partnerships

As a world-leading transplant and transfusion organisation, the standards set by NHS Blood and Transplant’s dedicated staff are something that other healthcare organisations seek to emulate on a global scale. Underpinning this vital life-saving and life-enhancing work is a highly-skilled ICT team who create and run digital services that directly impact on patient wellbeing, and it is here that you could play a fascinating part in our ongoing evolution.

We are currently going through an important change programme in which we are seeking to enhance the business arms of the organisation by improving our technical services over the next five years – resulting in the creation of this new role. As a senior member of the ICT team, you will be instrumental in bringing these ambitions to life as you oversee third party software suppliers, shaping integrated technical roadmaps and ensuring they are delivering high-quality solutions that are value-for-money. With a great deal of autonomy, you will assess our current suppliers and determine any changes that need to be made, working on a wealth of fascinating projects. With each day presenting you with new challenges, you will be at the heart of our work, helping us align technical needs with the software that has the scope to transform life outcomes.

This is a valuable opportunity to exert influence over our suppliers, and to shape quality experiences. We will therefore expect you to have experience of working with third party software suppliers in mixed technology environments, with a comprehensive knowledge of software development processes and methods. With experience of managing and improving services, you will be confident in your ability to set direction and evaluate the impact of your decisions, and you will understand how to design and develop test strategies for complex IT projects. As you will have a great deal of exposure to senior stakeholders across the organisation, you will need exceptional communication, influencing and leadership skills. Skilled in the development of application roadmaps, you will be a team-player who enjoys explaining complex technical information to a variety of audiences.

Choosing to join NHS Blood and Transplant will possibly be the best career decision you will ever make. Quite simply, we want talented people to join us and we will support your ongoing development with industry-leading training opportunities within our internal ‘Shine Academy’. Furthermore, this is a place where our staff want to come to work, not just for the extensive job satisfaction that they experience, but for the friendly support they receive from equally committed and passionate colleagues. So if you are confident that you can help us achieve our bold goals, we would love to receive your application.

Closing date: Midnight 22nd January 2020

Interview date: 29th January 2020.

Do something exceptional with your future. Join us today.
