Lead Chemotherapy Nurse

Band 8a

37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic Registered Nurse to apply for the full time post of Lead Chemotherapy Nurse at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.

The Lead Chemotherapy Nurse will work with the Diagnostic and Outpatient Directorate Senior Management Team, Lead Cancer Clinician, Lead Chemotherapy Clinician, Intrathecal Chemotherapy Lead, Lead Cancer Nurse, Lead Chemotherapy Pharmacist, Cancer Management and Clinical Teams within the Trust, as well as with the Strategic Clinical Network and Clinical Commissioning Groups to deliver the cancer agenda with a responsibility for chemotherapy services.

We are seeking an experienced nurse with the ability to work autonomously under pressure in this busy specialty. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational and time management skills are necessary.

Experience of nursing patients receiving chemotherapy is essential. Advanced Nurse practitioner skills desirable as this post will be providing nurse led clinics for chemotherapy.

We are a dynamic, cohesive multidisciplinary team, with staff committed to the delivery of a high quality service. We are seeking a clinical leader who has a clear vision for chemotherapy services which meet patient and Trust needs ensuring clinical governance is a priority alongside patient safety.

All new starters with the Trust will be subject to a six month probationary period, with the exception of medical and dental candidates.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from the first months pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be recovered over the first 2 months pay. (£22 per month)

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from DBS payment.
