Maternal Medicine & Ambulatory Gynaecology

The Great Western Hospital in Swindon would like to appoint a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Maternal Medicine & Ambulatory Gynaecology. This replacement post is vacant from the 1st April 2019.

The post is full time 10 PA’s per week

The post requires training in all aspects of general obstetrics and gynaecology, and the appointee should have experience of Maternal Medicine & Ambulatory Gynaecology.

The Trust has approximately 5000 deliveries per year, with both Consultant and Midwifery Led Care. There is a single Obstetric Ward with both antenatal and postnatal patients and an excellent ultrasound service is supplemented with specialist biophysical profile and Doppler services. There is also close links with Oxford, and Bristol for further obstetric ultrasound procedures and for neonatal surgery.

The Great western NHS Foundation Trust opened in December 2002 and the White Horse Birthing Centre was opened in March 2011 for the delivery of women classified as low risk at the onset of labour main delivery suite, this is on the same floor as the Delivery Suite.

Swindon is a thriving town set between the Cotswolds to the North and West, the Upper Thames valley to the East, and the Marlborough Downs to the South. The Trust catchment population is currently over 300,000. Neighbouring rural towns and villages are attractive and accessible and include Marlborough, Cirencester and Malmsbury. There is a thriving local theatre and two large cinema complexes. Other cultural opportunities abound in London, Bristol, Oxford and Bath, all of which are within one hour by car with excellent links by public transport. The rail journey to London Paddington, takes approximately 55 minutes from Swindon.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
