The Pharmacy Department at the Great Western Hospital is at the heart of the Trust’s programme to move forward and transform itself, using technology and new ways of working, to put Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy services at the heart of patient care. Our department has two robotic storage and dispensing systems, fully implemented electronic prescribing and has a clear vision for the future of clinical Pharmacy services.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist with a passion & drive for improving patient outcomes to lead our Neonatal and Paediatric Unit. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of a responsive, proactive and patient focused clinical pharmacy service across the whole of the Womens, Childrens and Sexual Health division.

 

You will be required to work effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and will actively participate in Trust wide medicines assurance, governance and divisional meetings to ensure medicines are being used safely, effectively and cost effectively.

 

Supporting the Trust’s desire in striving for excellence, you will show leadership as an experienced clinical pharmacist and contribute to the implementation of the Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services strategy, working with the wider pharmacy team to promote and evaluate new service models to benefit patient care and experience.

 

The pharmacy department employs over 80 members of staff and provides a wide breadth of services. We have a fully integrated electronic prescribing system and are able to deliver enhanced pharmaceutical care putting Medicines Optimisation at the heart of our clinical services.

The hospital is conveniently located just a mile off the M4 (Junction 15), and with a shuttle bus from Swindon town centre and station (every 15 minutes), getting here could not be any easier. The hospital is a modern building with excellent facilities both in clinical areas and for staff and as a trust employs over 4,000 staff.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from the first months pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be recovered over the first 2 months pay. (£22 per month)

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from DBS payment.
