12 Month Fixed Term Contract

The University Hospitals of Leicester is one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – and home to the nationally and internationally renowned Leicester Diabetes Centre. This is run in partnership between the NHS, the National Institute for Health Research, and the University of Leicester College of Medicine and Biological Sciences. Together we are committed to providing gold standard care for people with diabetes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the expanding Diabetes Consultant team at the University Hospitals of Leicester. Applications are invited from candidates with comprehensive experience in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Acute Medicine.

The role will involve both outpatient and inpatient work across the three hospitals. The successful candidate will demonstrate competencies matching the personal specification and needs to possess existing diabetes knowledge and skill set required for the position. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about diabetes care and improving the patient experience and outcomes. Team work and integrated working is a core component of the philosophy of our local diabetes care delivery.

The successful appointee will be expected to participate in the acute on-call rota.

We will close vacancies prior to the published closing date if we receive a sufficient number of completed application forms.

Preference will be given in the first instance to existing NHS employees within the East Midlands healthcare community who are ‘at risk’ of redundancy. Such employees within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust will be considered first.”
