The Solent NHS Trust adult community Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service covering Portsmouth City, Fareham and Gosport and South East Hampshire is seeking a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist to provide the clinical lead for alternative and augmentative communication systems (AAC).

The successful applicant will join a dynamic, forward thinking and professional team, committed to high quality, evidence based interventions, using outcome measures to demonstrate clinical effectiveness.

Robust, evidence based clinical care pathways, to describe a client’s journey through the service, are in place. The pathways, led by highly specialist SLTs, include aphasia, dementia, dysfluency, MND, Parkinson’s disease and voice.The successful applicant will provide highly specialist assessment, intervention and second opinions to people with acquired communication difficulties requiring alternative / augmentative communication systems. The SLT service has a local AAC clinical pathway as well as close links with the regional AAC centre.

Continuing professional development and further research opportunities are strongly supported within the SLT service, there are also opportunities to share knowledge and skill with acute SLT colleagues.
