Bring your innovative ideas to an industry-leading challenge

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a world-leading healthcare organisation. As the backbone of the NHS, we embrace a truly progressive culture in which every member of the team works together to achieve ambitious results. Ensuring every gift of blood, tissue and organs is used to best effect, we seek to minimise wastage – and to save and enhance as many lives as possible.

The Government is supporting a change in the law on organ donation to move to an opt-out system. The change in the law has the aim of increasing the number of organ donors and organ transplants. Jointly, NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS England (NHSE), Health Departments of Scotland, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man, Wales and Northern Ireland and the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) will deliver the opt-out system.

The law in England is expected to receive Royal Assent in spring 2019 and will come into effect a year later, probably in April 2020. The Opt Out Programme will deliver a range of projects that ensure that the policy and legislative changes are implemented successfully.

One important element of implementation is the delivery of a communications campaign to inform people in England about the change in the law. We need people to be aware that the law is changing and to make a decision about organ donation. The campaign will use a range of marketing and communications channels.

In this role you will support the communication campaigns in England by providing vital project management. This will include, but not be limited to, initiation activities, monitoring progress against project milestones, facilitating and delivering reports needed to meet the complex programme governance requirements. You will have exceptional communication and influencing skills, good budgeting and financial control and meticulous task management skills. Flawless documentation and project management reporting techniques are also essential. You will have experience of delivering business transformation projects and will be a confident problem-solver with fluent Word, Excel and PowerPoint capabilities. You will be degree-educated in a relevant subject such as business, management or information systems, or you will have an equivalent level of experience.

Experience of working in a complex environment with other agencies and partners (Governmental and non-Governmental) is essential. Familiarity with marketing campaigns and communications and marketing channels as well as experience of the health sector would be an advantage.

This is a great opportunity to network extensively with a wide variety of stakeholders and to hone your skills in a supportive and friendly environment. We are passionate about growing a workforce of people who may choose to take on new opportunities within the organisation, so we will encourage you to explore the industry-leading training and development prospects on offer. You will also benefit from a competitive benefits package that includes 27 days of annual leave (plus 8 bank holidays) – and a desirable work/life balance. So, join us and embrace the chance to bring your skills to a welcoming team who will be excited to hear your ideas.
