This new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to utilise and develop their skills in caring for cancer patients. The post holder will facilitate the delivery of ambulatory care to patients with leukemia and other hematological malignancies, and have an outreach role for patients who have undergone stem cell transplant when they are admitted in other areas of the hospital.

The post will be based at Leicester Royal Infirmary Hospital in the Bone Marrow Transplant Day Care, and will work within the existing Hematological team. In time the post holder will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload, providing highly specialised nursing input, supporting the continuity of care to our patient group, guiding them from diagnosis, through assessment, treatment and ongoing care. The post holder will also be an educational facilitator for patients and colleagues, and a key liaison with medical teams and the wider MDT.

This role has a set of development competencies and we will be supporting the successful candidate to complete relevant specialist education modules. If successful it is envisaged this post will lead to a band 7 role. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious nurse to gain new skills.

We would expect you to be able to demonstrate how you work within our Trust Values as this is very important to us. You will need to be a clinical role model and have a willingness to develop the Trust team as well as your own professional growth, and will need to be capable of working well within an existing established team. You will need to have excellent communication skills ensuring high standards are delivered and will play a key role in improving the service by facilitating audit and research.
