The successful candidate will have good communication skills and work both as an independent practitioner and as part of a supportive team. They will deliver safe and effective care for patients who are predominantly housebound and may have complex needs. Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is committed to training and developing its staff not only with clinical skills but also in leadership and managerial skills.

With the new NHS reforms and the NHS 5 year plan District Nurseswill play a significant role, particularly with new models of care, that aim to shift more care into the community.

The service aims to provide an excellent standard of care that supports patients to remain in their home environment. In Northampton you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team in order to support the service and have a high focus on delivering quality outcomes and improving the patient experience.

As both an organisation and a service we are actively involved both local and national innovative projects around improving quality of care, integrated working with stakeholders, designing new pathways and we are currently mid-way through a two year project that will transform community nursing in the county. We have an extensive program of training and skills development available for staff and actively nominate and encourage our staff to apply for national awards and recognition, such as Queen’s Nursing Institute, RCN and Nursing Times awards.

The service is provided from 8am to 6pm seven days a week, over a shift pattern. Weekends, bank holidays are a requirement of the job.

In addition to the benefits offered under the NHS terms and conditions of service, this post additionally attracts an incentive of £3000 pro rata for the successful applicant/s paid over the first 12 months of employment.
