Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to work within Thoracic Surgery

Ward 26 is currently a 25 bedded ward including a 6 bedded high dependency unit (HDU). Day to day we take both elective and emergency admissions and also referrals from peripheral hospitals outside of the Leicestershire catchment.

We are looking for individuals, who are strong leaders and are highly motivated with excellent communication skills. The Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse role requires a close working relationship with the multi-professional team to ensure that evidenced based quality care is delivered with compassion to every patient.

The post holder will be an experienced registered nurse, joining an enthusiastic well established and committed team. Wider responsibilities include the provision of a supportive learning environment for continuing education, reporting to the ward sister and supporting the wider organisation, shift leadership, managing resources, effective information and being an active member of the multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to manage staff and patients through a busy surgical ward. If you are a dedicated nurse with skills in caring for surgical patients; an individual who will support team members to achieve their best in providing excellent patient care. A professional who will assist the ward sister deliver and maintain high standards of care which is evidence based, we would like to work with you.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record and 3 years’ experience working at band 5 level. You will have gained a mentor course, excellent organisational and communication skills, a passion to achieve and the ability to develop good working relationships. Relevant surgical or respiratory experience would be required.
