The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people.

We aim to maintain confidence in the system by ensuring that human tissue is used safely, ethically, and with proper consent. We were established in 2005 following events in the 1990s that revealed a culture in hospitals of removing and retaining human organs and tissue without consent, so ensuring appropriate consent in the use of human tissue is one of our guiding principles.


The interests of the public, and those we regulate, are at the heart of our work – and we are looking for a Regulation Officer to perform a broad range of activities to support the delivery of our licensing processes.

Who are we looking for?

You will need to be a self-motivated individual who works well with others, and on your own initivative. Your exceptional organisation skills, and ability to resolve a large number of varied tasks consecutively, will allow you to prioritise competing deadlines while still maintaining exceptional attention to detail even when assimilating complex information.

With a focus on data management, plus system and process improvement, you will proactively contribute to the enhancement of our data tracking systems while also assisting the team in meeting compliance requirements in this area.

A proactive nature in solving problems along with a clear and concise communication style, the ability to build excellent working relationships at all levels and a commitment to providing the best quality of service will be essential to your success in this position.
