We have an opportunity for a permanent band 6 physiotherapist in our paediatric team. You will join the existing group of rotational band 6’s, who cover Cystic Fibrosis, Outpatients, Inpatients, Children’s Intensive Care and the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre. The Paediatric team provides services to paediatric intensive care and high dependency units (Royal Infirmary and Glenfield), neo-natal unit, surgical and medical wards, orthopaedics, oncology, neurology, respiratory clinics and the maternity wards, providing optimum care and ensuring delivery of a safe, effective and efficient service.

You will work alongside the established paediatric therapy team, which includes our Clinical Specialists Physiotherapists that work within exciting specialities such as Cystic Fibrosis, Long Term Ventilation, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre and Outpatients. You will also work alongside our multidisciplinary teams and our colleagues within the Community Paediatric service.

Serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Leicester Children’s Hospital is one of the busiest acute and general paediatric centres in the United Kingdom. Plans are progressing for the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre to move to Leicester Royal Infirmary site and to create an integrated single site Children’s Hospital accommodating all Children’s services.

 

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Physiotherapist with a desire to expand their paediatric skills and develop their band 6 experience. Your enthusiasm and drive will support our vision to provide an age-appropriate service for children and young people with a focus on outstanding, compassionate clinical care.

As a large, acute NHS Trust with established links to the University of Leicester and De Montfort University there is a strong focus on teaching and development of our staff, including qualified, non-qualified and multi-disciplinary staff and the successful applicant will provide teaching and supervision for physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and members of the Multidisciplinary Team working within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

The Therapy Department offers a supportive working environment incorporating high standards of clinical practice and education. Our strong commitment to the progressive and personal development of the individual and team are reflected in the in-service training programme, appraisal and clinical supervision.

The Therapy Department provides a seven day rostered service and the successful candidate will work on the weekend, bank holiday and the emergency on-call respiratory physiotherapy service rosters.
