This is a New & Exciting Opportunity for TRAINEE NURSING ASSOCIATE

This is a new nursing support role that will bridge the gap between the role of a Health Care Support Worker and a graduate Registered Nurse.

You will attend University in pre-set blocks and have some ad-hoc self-directed study days alongside your clinical practice. Each year you will undertake 1150 hours protected learning time in a range of practice experiences, where you will be supported by practice supervisors/assessors to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a registered nursing associate. Some of these will be within your own workplace, whilst others will allow you to develop differing skills and experience to include working with children, adults, older adults, people with physical and mental health needs, people with learning disabilities and in a range of settings including home, close to home and hospital. There will be opportunities to undertake placements across UHMB and some partner organisations.

You will remain in your usual place of work for the remaining hours and you will also have a work based portfolio to complete, and academic assignments.

Nursing Associates will be able to administer medication, undertake venepuncture, physical health observations, care plan, risk assess and many more clinical skills relevant to the area in which you train

The Nursing Associate programme is a 2 year programme and you will be paid under Annexe 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and conditions which is:

  • Year 1 – 70% of the top of a Band 4
  • Year 2 – 75% of the top of a Band 4
  • leading to Band 4 upon completion of academic study and accreditation

Salary would be confirmed with individual candidates, as pay protection may apply.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of educational qualifications at interview. These must include Enlgish, Maths and proof of working at Level 3.
