East Lancashire Medical Services is looking to recruit a dynamic individual with good communication and administrative skills who can demonstrate a proven record of using their initiative. Initially for a period of six months this post may well be extended.

The post holder will work overnight and will provide administrative support to our clinical team. You will be responsible for receiving calls and carry out the reception duties at ELMS Treatment Centres for patients that require medical assistance outside the normal working hours of General Practice. This includes interacting with patients and clinicians in person and on the telephone in a helpful and professional manner, providing a chaperone service if requested by the Clinician (where possible).

You will co-ordinate and utilise available clinical resource to mitigate against undue patient delays, receive calls directly from other Health Professionals/Bodies and despatch them appropriately e.g. Telemeds, Nursing Homes, End of Life Care Teams, Integrated Community Teams, Pharmacists.

You will be required to despatch all calls professionally and efficiently using the designated system e.g. EMIS or Adastra

The ability to prioritise own workload and to deal tactfully and diplomatically with situations in order to prevent conflict is important part of this role.

Experience in the use of computer systems and good general office skills is essential as is experience of working in a receptionist/office environment.

Knowledge of patient information systems (Adastra / EMIS) is desirable.
