The Health Visiting (HV) team within Homeless Healthcare Team are seeking to recruit a Family Support Worker (FSW) who is dedicated, client focussed, enthusiastic and kind. Your passion for supporting and enabling diverse and vulnerable families and safe care should be evident.

The HV team is part of a multi-disciplinary coalition dedicated to the provision of enhanced primary care to people who are homeless or vulnerably housed in Southampton. The FSW will be engaging with women and families in asylum seeking accommodation, emergency, temporary and refuge accommodation.

The ideal candidate will be a confident and compassionate person who will support their clients to engage with local health and statutory services, accompany them to appointments and a wide variety of other tasks as directed by the HV. A large proportion of the FSW role will be working with diverse, complex, non-English speaking families in asylum seeking accommodation. As the family support worker you will be expected to offer a package of support, prescribed by the HV and have up to date knowledge of the needs of people living in challenging circumstances.

You will demonstrate a high level of organisational and administration skills. You willdeliver high standards of HV care which meet the requirements of children and their families at all times. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of activity including data entry. Knowledge of clinical records systems (TPP SystmOne) is desired but not essential as full training will be provided.

We are a caring and reflective team, interested in staff development. As part of this we offer staff support, a confidential safe environment which provides the opportunity to collectively reflect and share on our daily working. Within the team we have regular supervision to support staff. We take a multi-disciplinary team approach to holistic thinking about how we can improve our work with children and their families as well as how we can constantly improve as a service.

You will be able to evidence successful handling of sensitive situations effectively and confidentially by utilising excellent communication skills. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work using your own initiative, knowing your limitations and when to seek help or advice from others. You will be a strong administrator with Good IT skills and be motivated to continue your professional development.

You will have a Full driving license with access to your own vehicle.
