Trainee Nurse Associate

Location;      Longley Centre (Northern General Hospital site, S5 7JT)

                        Michael Carlisle Centre (Nether Edge, S11 9BF)

                      G1 , Grenoside Grange,(Grenoside,S35 8QS)                    

Salary: Band 3 whilst training £18,813 - £20,795 pa these posts also qualify for unsocial hour payments for weekend, nights & late evenings 

 Salary : Band 4 after successful completion of the training (24 month training period)   

Interview Dates : Between 26th and 27th March Interviews will include an assessment centre. 

 24 month training period leading to a permanent role within training area initially 

A new role - Nursing Associate – has been developed to sit alongside existing registered nurses and nursing care support workers, in both health and social care. The Nursing Associate role will bridge the gap between health and care support workers and registered nurses, and offers opportunities for health care workers to progress into nursing roles. This exciting role can provide a real benefit to the nursing and care workforce across a range of settings and play a key role in the delivery of patient care with safety at its heart. This exciting opportunity is being offered as part of a partnership with other regional health care organisations and will enable you to be part of a 2 year work based learning programme, delivered in conjunction with The University of Sheffield to achieve a foundation degree and become a qualified Nursing Associate. The two year programme will include placements in hospital, near to home and home settings these may be outside the organisation. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to placements throughout the programme.

We are seeking individuals with experience of working within health care delivery. So if you have a compassionate and caring attitude and are motivated, enthusiastic and interested in developing your career within the health service then this may be the course for you. This is a training role, leading to a Nursing Associate position, on successful completion of the programme. The Nurse Associate programme can be a stepping stone ‘for successful candidates to access a shortened registered nursing course… After qualifying as a Nurse Associate you will be committed  to work for the SHSC for a further two years.

In order to meet the academic requirements of the course the entry criteria for the posts are: 

  • Previous experience of working in a health and social care setting

  • Experience of providing care

  • English and maths at GCSE A- C ( 4-9) or Functional skills Maths and English at level 2 (certificates MUST be provided at interview)

  • Up to date mandatory training and PDR 

  • Demonstrate ability to study at Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level and  commit to completing the Foundation Degree programme
  • Commit to study skills course prior to training post commencement in your own time

(Dates to be confirmed but will be over 4 consecutive weekend days)

  • You will need to be able to start the course in October 2020      

Please note: Some of your Annual leave may be fixed around your plan of study and remaining annual leave to be taken as per local procedure. 

DBS checks for Adult and Child will be require
