Phlebotomist with Pathology First

£17,652 to £19,020 per annum

Would you like to join our dedicated, hardworking Phlebotomy team at Pathology First?

We are looking to recruit Phlebotomists to expand our teams at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and other local community clinics throughout South Essex.

We offer full training, so previous experience is not essential. What is required is a steady hand, a caring nature and a desire to contribute to your local community. We take around 3,000 blood samples a day from patients to enable doctors and other healthcare professionals make the right treatment decisions.

Phlebotomy services are available Monday to Friday 07.00am – 20.00pm and on weekends and bank holidays 07.00am – 13.00pm. Due to the wide operating times, you would be working a combination of shifts each week which would include early, late and weekend shifts. You will also be rostered to work bank holiday shifts on a rotational basis, this is an expectation for this role.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence, with access to a motor vehicle for work
  • Pass the requirements of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Work as part of a team
  • Be comfortable dealing with blood and other bloody fluids
  • Be willing to take samples from patients on hospital wards, outpatient and community clinics
  • Be willing to participate in a roster system which will include early, late, weekend and bank holiday shifts (between 7am to 8pm) across multiple sites throughout Essex.
