Applications are invited from an enthusiastic and motivated consultant surgeon in a tertiary vascular centre at Nottingham University Hospitals.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest in the UK with an annual budget in excess of £500 million. It was formed on 1 April 2006, when two top-rated trusts Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital merged in order to develop a range of high-quality, sustainable patient services across the two campuses. As a major teaching Trust, NUH enjoys close links with the city’s universities and attracts and develops the highest calibre of staff. It continues to be the hospital of choice for patients, encourages investment and remains at the forefront of research. It has one of the busiest emergency departments in the UK (now a Major Trauma Centre) and has a total of 2,200 hospital beds across both campuses.

The successful candidate will join a team of 6 vascular surgeons and associated clinical teams delivering high quality vascular care in three hospitals across Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will perform major vascular procedures including TEVAR, FEVAR and EVARs.

You must possess a UK recognised medical degree and a Fellowship of one of the UK Surgical Colleges or UK recognised equivalent. You will need to hold full GMC registration, be eligible to be included on the Specialist Register or be within six months, at time of interview, of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training.

This is a three month sabbatical cover post.

    • I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
    • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
