Activities Coordinator

Job Reference: 415-AA19-112ND

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust
Fortescue Ward - Unscheduled Care
£17,652 - £19,020 per annum pro rata

We are looking to recruit an activity coordinator to join our Dementia and Care of the Elderly team on Fortescue Ward.

The Activity coordinator plays an important role in patient’s recovery by providing meaningful activities to promote appropriate levels of stimulation, promote well- being and encourage and maintain a patient’s current level of function and avoid de-conditioning whist in hospital.

You will lead on developing an activity programmer, facilitating groups and individual interventions on the ward. The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, liaising closely with nursing and therapy staff to design person centered activities contributing positively to the emotional and psychological wellbeing of patients. We are fortunate to have the support of our volunteers who already are involved with the patients on this ward.

The successful candidates will need to be passionate about dementia care and demonstrate their enthusiasm and motivation to make a real difference working within our trust values. They must be able to work as part of a team but also under their own initiative to provide and co-ordinate such activities.

If you require any further information please contact Lisa Leach on 01271 322330

Closing date: 15/03/2020

Please note that this post is being offered at Band 2 subject to formal band matching.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.
