Histopathology Operations Manager with Pathology First

£52,306 - £60,983 per annum

We are Pathology First, a joint venture between Southend University Hospital, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Integrated Pathology Partnerships (“iPP”). We have an exciting opportunity available for an Operations Manager within the Cellular Pathology Team and are looking for an individual who has in depth knowledge and a good understanding of Cellular Pathology.

As an Operations Manager you will work with a team of Principal BMSs and Advanced Practitioners to ensure sub discipline specific expert knowledge is available as required and operate a fully functioning compliant laboratory services. You will ensure that compliance with regulatory (HCPC) and accreditation (UKAS) requirements are delivered, ensuring quality standards and key performance indicators are met, staff engagement levels are high and best practice HR management is undertaken.

The successful application with require:

  • HCPC State Registration and hold an MSc or FIBMS or equivalent
  • Experience in managing a large service
  • Expert knowledge of national guidelines and protocols relating to pathology
  • Ability to perform role under pressure of challenging timescales, multiple demands and changing services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable criteria:

  • Management qualification e.g MBS, DMS
  • Project management experience, skills and qualificatoions
  • LEAN 6 sigma processes and thinking

Pathology First was formed in 2014 and is a joint venture between Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and private sector partners – SYNLAB. Pathology First delivers full laboratory services to a population of 750,000 patients and over 250 GP practices across 6 CCG’s in the South East.
