The Headache Group at UCLH would like to invite candidates to apply for a 12 month fixed term (10PA) post as a Locum Consultant Neurologist with an interest in complex Headache and expertise of Neuromodulation with a view to substantive position.

The Headache Group

Headache is an important area of clinical and research activity at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and the Institute of Neurology. The Headache Group provides a tertiary level clinical service for patients with complex headache disorders, in addition to a consultation service for neurological and neurosurgical patients within the NHNN. The Headache Group is nationally and internationally recognized as the leading UK centre for the assessment, diagnosis, investigation and management of patients with complex headache disorders. The Department sees in excess of 600 new patients each year referred for the range of highly specialist expertise. Patient referrals come from across the UK as well as from local GPs. The medical staff comprises one academic consultant, six NHS consultants, two specialist registrars and one senior house officer. There are five nurse specialists, two psychologists and four secretaries.

10PA Locum Consultant Neurologist

This post has been developed to enhance the neurological input to complex headache patients. The post holder will work within the tertiary referral Headache team to see both new and follow up patients within an outpatient clinic as well as in-patients. The successful candidate will join a strong team of 7 Consultants with a national and international reputation in excellent care and research.

All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving CCST/ CCT at the time of interview. Candidates should also have significant experience in the assessment and treatment of complex headache patients within a specialist environment, including experience of neuromodulation.
