Due to the retirement of the current post holder we are looking for an experienced Psychologist to lead our highly regarded Psychology Service.

We have highly specialist clinicians working in a variety of teams delivering services such as Brain Injury, Chronic Fatigue, Neurology and General Old Age Medicine, Pain Management, Specialist Weight Management, Cancer, Palliative Care & Haematology, Paediatric Diabetes, Renal and Staff Support.

Services are delivered for inpatients from two large acute hospitals in Gloucester and Cheltenham. With outpatient activity being focused more from the Gloucester site.

We are working with Gloucestershire Commissioners and community colleagues towards a vision of “One Gloucestershire” and making Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust an exciting place to work. 

We are looking for someone with a progressive mind-set and a clear sense of direction and the ability to articulate their vision regarding service development. You will be a registered Psychologist qualified to post-doctoral level in clinical psychology; with a range of experience and a proven track record in leadership and service development. The ability to demonstrate a high level of organisational and interpersonal skills will be essential to the post, whilst maintaining a focus on ensuring staff provide a high quality service to patients within the acute environment. You will need to respond to national strategies and look for ways to develop and enhance pathways and ways of working, whilst working closely with patients and other partners.

The Health Psychology Service sits within the Diagnostics and Specialties Division, one of four clinical Divisions. The Trust has recently been awarded a CQC rating of Good. The Trust has an active Research and Quality Improvement programme, with all staff being encouraged to take part.

The role of the successful candidate will be to provide operational management and leadership to the Psychology staff working within the Trust. You will work closely with the Lead Psychologists who will report directly to you and your manager the Divisional Director for Professional and Scientific Staff.
