We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join Defence Medical Services at RAF Halton as a Part Time Band 6 Practice Nurse for 13.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care for the presenting patient. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients including treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education within the medical facility (MF). They will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurse leadership within the MF.

Job responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering a high standard of patient care as the specialist nurse using advanced autonomous clinical skills, and a broad and in-depth theoretical knowledge base
  • Leading and developing the nursing team and ensure the highest standards of care are provided for the patients
  • Managing own clinical workload responding effectively to patient need and ensuring patient choice and ease of access to services
  • Mentoring and supporting nursing and other colleagues to develop and maintain clinical skills
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communications with the team and liaise with other agencies and disciplines
  • Covering on a rotational basis the Day Assessment Unit which provides care to service personnel under training between 0745-1830 hrs.
  • Training and mentoring RAF Medics as required

The successful candidate must hold the following qualifications:

  • Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures underpinned by theory. A Registered Nurse with professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma, supplemented by diploma level specialist training, experience, short courses.
  • Valid NMC registration

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

Please be aware that if you are found successful you will be asked to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. (only where applicable).
