Service Summary:

The successful candidate will be joining the Workforce & Organisational Core and Essential Skills Team within a large mental health & learning disability trust. The W&OD service works in close partnership with clinical operational areas to ensure those services receive developmental and training inputs they have identified as critical to their annual work plan and service development needs. The Core and Essential Skills Team provide flexibly delivered statutory mandatory and essential to role, training across the whole organisation. We operate to the North West & National Core Skills Framework.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Trust Violence Reduction/Core & Essential Training Manager, the post holder will develop and provide delivery of the resuscitation training programmes and the statutory First Aid training and guidance within the Trust, as well as supporting the resuscitation training officer. This will involve personal and professional development to attain the necessary skills, qualifications and experience. This post will focus primarily on delivery of training in resuscitation, first aid, anaphylaxis, and related clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:

Work with the resuscitation training officer to offer a comprehensive and realistic resuscitation training and development work-plan, developed and delivered in line with the mandatory training planning cycle for resuscitation and first aid training. Work with the resuscitation training officer to Plan, implement and evaluate training programmes at basic (adult and paediatric), immediate and advanced levels in accordance with Trust policies. Support the key performance indicators for the training needs analysis in relation to resuscitation training, ECG, First Aid, Anaphylaxis and other related subjects.
Deliver to Resuscitation Council (UK) standards for ILS/BLS/PBLS and bespoke events dependent on organisational or individual needs

The successful candidate will be responsible for the Resuscitation Audit Process and Reporting as well as compliance management for First Aid and Resuscitation subjects.


Key Requirements of the Person Specification:

Life Support Instructor quThe applicant must have as a minimum the  Intermediate Life Support Instructor qualification and be Advanced Life Support Qualified. The person should have significant teaching experience of resuscitation topics to healthcare staff. The person will be registered healthcare professional, and have a formal teaching qualification e.g. PTLLS, PGDE, PGCE, ENB998 or equivalent experience. The person will have at least 3 years post qualifying experience working in an environment where resuscitation skills have been used and previous experience of first aid training/first aider in the place of work. It would be desirable if the applicant already had G.I.C. status Paediatric ILS and a Registered First Aid at Work Trainer Qualification. Experience of delivering Clinical Skills/Resuscitation Training is also desirable


Flexible delivery requires the person to have access and use of a car. The person will be able to work independently and as part of the wider team in teaching and learning activities. The person must have experience of teaching to groups of varying size, ability and seniority.

Training and supervision will be available to enable interested candidates to develop into the post.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff will have the amount deducted from their first months’ salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay. The Trust encourages all staff and bank workers to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13, for bank members this is obligatory. The cost of an enhanced DBS check is £40 and for a standard check £23, both attract an administration charge of £3.50.
