Head of Outpatient Physiotherapy

Wiltshire health and care have launched a new MSK Interface and Community Outpatients Physiotherapy Service This new service will combine traditional community outpatient physiotherapy with a new MSK interface service and has been carefully designed with the patient front of mind. It will help to ensure that all patients are directed to the right clinician at the right time, every time.

This exciting post will lead the delivery of the new pathway ensuring commissioned targets are met. The post will  work with the Head of operations for MSK and Long term conditions and clinical lead for OIS  to continue the transformational work that has been achieved over the last 18 months.

You will be able to develop your clinical and management skills in a supportive community environment with many new service improvements in development around MSK Physiotherapy in MIU,  partnership working with leisure services and IAPT and recent involvements with 2 pilots in the national First Contact Practitioner Pilots. You will have the opportunity to maintain your clinical skills by working one day in OIS clinics.

 

We have an already robust, successful and experienced team of 15 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner’s (APP) running Orthopaedic Interface Clinics throughout the whole of Wiltshire.  Wiltshire health and care can offer flexibility and close working with community partners. 

We benefit from shared patient records with GP’s and other healthcare providers. We use a shared electronic system and have become a ‘paperlite’ Trust. We have  more advanced career pathways in GP practices as FCP, Fracture clinic & MIU posts  and APP clinics in Community Hospitals, creating secondment opportunities in Acute/specialist hospital settings or community teams to fulfil future career aspirations and invest in our staff long term proficiencies.

 

The successful candidate will possess a friendly, professional attitude to supplement their good MSK knowledge.

Who we're looking for:

  • You will have HCPC registration and have a proven ability to manage, motivate, support, develop and lead a team
  • You will be able to provide evidence of substantial CPD in management and other clinically related and relevant subjects
  • You will have  evidence of change management skills

 

The MSK service for Wiltshire is based in community hospital  locations and additional GP clinics with excellent links with our acute hospital at Salisbury, Bath and Swindon.  We receive MSK referrals from GPs, Orthopaedics, A&E, Rheumatology, Midwives and other Health Care Professionals. Alongside MSK Physiotherapy we deliver services in Hand Therapy, Rheumatology, Women’s Health and Amputees.
